Especially for Field Day Volunteers

Fall 2011 Field Days-Schedule

Please consider helping us as a volunteer for elementary student field days! No experience required...we will train you to guide children through various science activities. Background check required for all volunteers who work with children. The days that are scheduled for field days this fall are: September 20, 22, 27, 28; October 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, 24, 25, 28.

FOR TEACHERS

Hands-on, inquiry-based educational activities-both inside and outside-that correlate with State of Washington Science Standards (2009) and local school districts' curricula have been developed for grades three, four, and five. See "Field Days" (below) for details on various field day programs that have taken place since 2007.

If you are interested in bringing your elementary, middle school, or junior high school class to BBR for a field day, contact Jody Marquardt, Education Coordinator, 509.548.9362 for details on cost, available curricular activities, and scheduling.

FIELD DAYS

In the spring, 3rd graders from Osborn Elementary School in Leavenworth and Vale Elementary School in Cashmere come to BBR for field days around the general theme "Behaviors and Habitats of Birds and Other Wildlife." Three field days occur in the week prior to the Leavenworth Spring Bird Fest, a popular event held at the height of the neotropical bird migration in mid-May. In the fall, 4th graders from Osborn Elementary School in Leavenworth and Vale Elementary School in Cashmere come to BBR for field days around the general theme of "Biodiversity in Our Watershed." See the PDFs below for the 2010 schedules.
